Welcome, Maite Gurrutxaga!

Maite studied Fine Arts in Bilbo and Barcelona. She rediscovered the world of illustration while she was studying Fine Arts, and she realized that she could mix her lifelong passion, drawing, with her other great love, reading, and transfer ideas, concepts and sensations onto paper. Therefore, after graduating she studied illustration at the Escola de la Dona in Barcelona.
She began illustrating books in 2008. Since then, she has illustrated books for children, teenagers and adults, as well as records, magazines and posters.

During these years her work has been recognized with awards such as the 2014 Basque Prize for Illustration in Literature for her work in the comic-book Habiak, or more recently, in 2015, with Lazarillo Prize of Illustrated book, for the project Martin, written by Alaine Agirre.

For Maite illustration is like a huge house whose infinite rooms, windows and doors open with every new project.
